Hemlock - thank you for stopping by :-)

My reply to your comments merits a post of its own; at least I hope it does. One day, some day, I will write it and eagerly await the brickbats that will surely follow.

Najam Sethi has been in jail for writing against establishment. Ejaz Haider, Khalid Ahmed and Irfan Hussain have been living off a racket called The Friday Times for over a decade now, so DT, if anything, was a step down from the throne.
DT has by far been the most outspoken paper in musharraf's reign, at the same time, has been upfront in giving praise where and when it was due.
yes, If being critical of muslims, or a new-and-improved-to-suit-your-daily-needs version of islam, or a group of baton wielding men representing a nation of 160 million people is buying them advertisements, then yes, daily times is guilty on those accounts. at no time has DT ever put down the ideology, the country, or the religion it was based on in its four years of publication.
it is a paper written by the elite FOR the elite, and it speaks the one language they can understand; in an effort to perhaps bring about a change the country so desperately needs.
